Rebranding? Sorta…

Real talk?

I've kinda been annoyed at myself for falling off posting content here. I've had a sort of uncomfortable experience with some extended burnout since March 2023. Due to a few situations with work and personal life, I kinda lost the passion to only focus on tech things in my spare time. Every time I went to start a new post, I'd end up maybe 300 words of rambling and none of it useful….

I've got half finished blogs for ditching docker compose, migrating to Podman, Podman networking differences and solutions for a k8s-style deployment of Podman all lined up and in various states of completion. Unfortunately … I've got no interest in completing them right now.

I think my plan for a bit is to change gears for a while. Instead of tech projects, or intricacies of SystemD, I'm going to try to write about a few other passions I have. There's probably going to be A LOT of D&D talk, occasionally books/TV/Movies/Video Games, and the rarer occasion a look into some self-care hobbies. Don't worry, the hobbies are mostly PG, rare occasion of PG-13 for when the shirts come off 😏.

Not going to make a habit of this, but shout-out to my friend and old co-worker Neel. He pointed me at a TheVerge article about Ghost (the platform used for this blog) starting up the process for ActivityPub support. I'm a large fan of the Fediverse moment and design and will be definitely supporting it once it's fully baked.

Anyways, where was I? Right … Neel. I mentioned that I hadn't really touched this in a year, and he was kinda like “you should do it again”. He also gave the nudge I needed to think about rebranding all this and not quite starting from scratch, but shifting what this would be about. Without him, this would undoubtedly probably have stayed dead for a long while.
